SPORTS :"Why We Signed Yakabu"- Reading FC Coach

Head Coach of Reading Football Club, Steve Clarke, has givien insights into why he signed Nigerian striker, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, from Qatar despite claims that the player is already a ‘spent force’.

Speaking on Reading’s official website, the proud Coach said amongst other things, the 32-year old Nigerian Striker can create chances in front of goals, hence the reason he signed him into the English Championship Club side.

“We knew what we were getting when we signed him, Yak’s a goalscorer and we brought him in for games like that, when it’s open and you know you’re going to create chances towards the end,” Clarke said.

The Coach further revealed that Reading had been facing difficult times but since Yakubu joined, he has been able to make things a little easier for the team.

Reading FC is the sixth English club that Yakubu will be playing for since he started his professional career.

Before heading to Qatar, he played for Portsmouth, Middlesbrough, Everton, Leicester City, and Blackburn Rovers.
