Stephen Keshi Back in Nigeria.

Super Eagles’ Coach, Stephen Keshi, is back in Nigeria after spending some weeks on holiday in the United States with his family.

Keshi arrived Nigeria on Monday amidst speculations that he could be signing a new contract to continue as the national team handler in a couple of days’ time.

Keshi’s original contract with Nigeria expired in June 2014 after the World Cup in Brazil and attempts at getting a new one have lingered on ever since.

The leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, which had earlier said they will be engaging an expatriate coach to take over from Coach Keshi has since jettisoned the plan as the Federation President, Amaju Pinnick, at different forums confirmed that the Big Boss will be allowed to continue on the job.

Keshi’s return to the country may not be unconnected to the many assignments before the national teams as qualifiers for the 2017 African Cup of Nations and the 2016 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) are set to begin.

In the absence of Keshi, Assistant Coach Daniel Amokachi led the home-based Eagles to two friendly games in the United Arab Emirates.

The Eagles, under Amokachi, narrowly lost 1-0 to a star-studded Ivorian team but bounced back to defeat Yemen 2-0 in Dubai days after.
