Civil Society Group berates Gov. Fayose on Advert Against Buhari

The Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room has grossly berated the front page advertisement published on selected national newspapers on Monday January 19, 2015 which was credited to the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Ayodele Fayose with the banner headline “Nigerians Be Warned”.
The situation room is made up of Civil Society Organization working in support of credible and transparent elections in Nigeria and include such groups as policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC), CLEEN Foundation, Action Aid Nigeria, Centre for Democracy and Development, Enough is Enough Nigeria, Wangonet, Partners for Electoral Reform, Youth Initiative for Advocacy,  Growth & Advancement (YIAGA), Development Dynamics, Human Right Monitor, Election Monitor, Reclaim Monitor Institute for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law and several others.

Reacting to the advertisement on a Sahara Reporter,  the group described the advertisement as being in extreme bad taste and falls within the category of hate speech prohibited under the Electoral Act and other known international Laws that forbid the publication of hate speech. Expressing its disappointment on the publication which actually emanated from a highly placed political office holder in the country, the group firmly established the dire implication of the advertisement as its negates the Abuja Accord recently signed by the presidential candidates and leaders of political parties for the election.
